Mark Marissen, Chairman

Mr. Marissen has provided strategic counsel to dozens of clients since he founded Burrard Communications Inc. in 1998.

In addition to his client responsibilities, Mr. Marissen has acted as a political strategist, serving as campaign manager for the Hon. Stéphane Dion, Leader of the Liberal Party of Canada, in his come-from-behind leadership victory in December 2006. He is currently National Campaign Co-Chair for the Liberal Party, and was British Columbia Campaign Co-Chair in the 2004 and 2006 elections.

Prior to creating his practice, Mr. Marissen was a senior advisor to federal cabinet ministers in three different departments: Fisheries and Oceans, Transport and National Revenue -- working both in Ottawa and Vancouver.

Over the last two decades, Mr. Marissen has developed a strong understanding of advocacy, policy development and opinion research. He has also recruited dozens of candidates from very diverse backgrounds to seek public office. Mr. Marissen has a wide national network and was listed in Vancouver Magazine's Power 50 list, as one of Vancouver's most powerful players.
